For consideration after the release -
Recursive-edit depth is indicated in the mode line by bracketing ([...]).
Being in a recursive minibuffer without knowing it is about as disorienting
as being in a recursive edit without knowing it. AFAIK, there is no feedback
regarding minibuffer-recursion depth.
How about having some indication (somewhere) of the minibuffer-recursion
depth? Perhaps use {...} in the mode line for this (like [...])? (Both
recursions are possible at the same time, though that is not common.)
