F10 on W32 does start keyboard traversal on menus on Microsoft applications and others, and it is listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/301583. How more standard does it get? The difference between for example Gnome is that Gnome opens the first menu, but W32 does not.
Maybe it is still good to tell about f10 since most non-Emacs users are not aware of that.
If they used Gnome or W32 they should be. Don't know about KDE though. Jan D.
