Yes, that's where the documentation was technically incorrect to write 
“'integer”.  The valid value is not ‘'integer’, i.e., ‘(quote integer)’; the 
valid value is just the symbol ‘integer’.  Similarly for the other examples you 
gave.  This is a minor technical documentation error that is not likely to 
confuse many people, but I figured I might as well get it right while fixing 
things in the neighborhood.
