Yes, I meant mini-gmp.
The functions in mini-gmp have the same problem, so I'm unsure why
this solution is better.

The idea is to fix mini-gmp ourselves so that they do not have the same problem. This should be easy, and it should be more efficient than the patch that you mentioned.
