It does indeed not look that way to me -- I've now pushed what I think
you were suggesting?  It looks a bit error-prone to me, so perhaps you
had something different in mind.

(For instance, if the user has bound the command to anything else
involving a shift command, then they'll (probably, depending on the
differences between last-command-event and this-single-command-keys) get
"M-X" now.)
