Yeesh, you seem to paint it as some sort of grand event; I don't think
he'd think for more than 2 seconds about the issue, and probably would
just use explicit because it's the most familiar (not to mention being
the default in tla).  But I also think he'd be perfectly open to
revising that choice if later experience by the general arch-using
community showed tagline to be sufficiently superior -- and there were a
painless mechanism for implementing such a change (which there currently
is not).
