I've been a FreeBSD committer since '95 and while at BSDcon in San Mateo,
CA in September, I organised a BoF about version control systems with an
emphasis on Arch. The discussion was interesting and some people said
they'd be looking at Arch. So yes, the FreeBSD people have been approached
:)

As for the Perl people, I don't subscribe to p5p anymore so I'm out of
touch.

There's a package called VCS (written in Perl) that provides gateways
between systems. There is at least a CVS/RCS and a P4 modules, enabling
sync between these two repos.

We need a VCS-Arch module.

The other way to do that is to do a CVS export of a P4 repository and use
cscvs on that.

I'm planning to make an Arch archive of the FreeBSD CVS repository (1.4 GB,
around 120000 changesets).

The main thing is that due ot the way FreeBSD is developped, a centralised
solution like CVS or P4 works nicely. Switching to a distributed system à
la Arch would be quite a large change.
