Dear participants,
After reading your conversation, I can conclude some facts:
- there are people interested to get endorsement by the FSF that there
exists fully free GNU operating system distribution, e.g. Uruk
- people participate in this discussion basically disconnected from
FSF, there is no attention that FSF put on it.
- FSF does not participate in the discussion, so far I can observe,
maybe yes, maybe no, but I have not seen official from FSF
participating in the discussion
- FSF did not provide tracking or follow up system, such as bug report
system, to track the progress and be transparent or inform people
what would be the next step for Uruk or any distribution to be
endorsed
- ridiculously long time has passed without answer from FSF on the
subject matter.
Conclusion
----------
FSF does not listen to creator of fully free GNU operating system and
does not answer on it.
Being certified by organization that does not put attention on
statements it published on websites to endorse GNU distributions
devalues endorsements in itself.
Recommendation
--------------
Try to contact FSF directly and ask for their opinion on this, include
their e-mail addresses in Cc; and if you do not get opinion within 48
hours, or one week, FORGET ABOUT IT.
Form a new group of people who are loyal to free software principle,
and I recommend those people who are already managing free software
distributions, and who are actively participating.
Call that group somehow, like "Free Software System Distribution Council",
and set up policies, you can and should use same policies as setup by
the FSF, do not split away from free software principles.
Setup policies how to rapidly resolve the pending cases.
Let that group endorse Uruk and other free software system
distributions.
Let FSF decide if to accept recommendation from "Free Software System
Distribution Council" by the pace how they think is alright, however,
keep endorsing truly free software distributions by using the new
group, the Council (or call it however you wish) that works
independently by using FSF policies, and has time and willingness to
handle those issues.
