Your steadfast refusal to even acknowledge other users' compatibility
concerns will not do you any favors here.



There also exists the equally valid question about how many years need to pass 
before

compatibility concerns will have to be sacrificed for things to move forward.  
We might

need a new rms to start from scratch.  Am sure such time will come.  The good 
thing

about long options is that they are more adapted to the needs of the user and 
for big programs

such as gcc.  You are also steadfast on stopping supporting getopt so that we 
cannot use it anymore.
