I do not fully agree with this. We now have "methods" that allow
considerable abstraction potential. Also, the other wish list
items are gradually being added... Don't write this off. One reason
why this has taken a long time is that there has been little feedback
from users on this. If these features are to be absorbed and made known
then everyone has to  be supportive.
