[Help-gnu-radius] Reasons for an Accounting-Response to not be logged "

Subject: [Help-gnu-radius] Reasons for an Accounting-Response to not be logged "fully"?

Greetings;
After determining the issues had nothing to do with radwho and more to do
with radutmp not being logged to, I delved a little deeper into the issue
and while eliminating some possibilities, am still, on the whole, at a
loss to resolve the issue.

Apparently only randomly is radiusd doing the Accounting logging -
rad(w|u)tmp, radacct/NAS/detail or SQL logging. I'm speculating due to the
random nature of these events that the NAS itself might be not sending complete
records that radiusd is willing to log... But am unsure why at the moment.

I have logged in multiple times, all from the same NAS unit, and
infrequently get Acct logged. I have auth detailing turned on, and get a
complete auth log for every Authenticate, so I'm getting some of the
details... I've matched up the Auth record to the few Acct records, and
"Good" auth records look exactly the same as "Bad", from as much as the
Acct records can tell - they all look like the below:

Fri Feb 21 14:54:50 2003
        NAS-IP-Address = 69.0.64.8
        NAS-Port-Id = 7603
        Vendor-Specific = V9\002\034Async5/107*Serial7/0:14:19
        NAS-Port-Type = Async
        Called-Station-Id = 6515580005
        Calling-Station-Id = 6515569980
        Service-Type = Framed-User
        Framed-Protocol = PPP
        Acct-Session-Id = 050D1F38
        Vendor-Specific =
V2233623\011\050\001EMBm\006\167\114\000\000\206\126\000\000\362\167\000\000\026\176\000\000\116\130\241\015uE\220\041\046\017\127\050\367\007
        User-Name = testuser
        Timestamp = 1045857290

(The only things that change between the "Good" Auth records and
"Bad" ones are the predictable Timestamp, Acct-Session-Id and portions of
the Vendor-Specific strings).

As you can see all the things that the manual suggests are required for
Accounting is in this Auth record... So I'm failing to understand what is
"missing"...

Any experience with this sort of thing? Suggestions to make?

My thanks,
JP
