I use debugfs. It doesn't work amazingly well, but it sort of does.
Just pipe the commands into it and it should work. I threw together
a hack a while ago so I could specify where the ext2 partition lives
inside the image which is useful for working with HDD images.
Unfortunatly I've had a quick look around and can't seem to find
the patch I made of it. I could have a better look when I get home
tonight, but I'm not sure how much hope I'd hold out. I could
always hack another version ofit together if you think it would be
useful.
