This is now only for (some) music. But look at the iPhone and you see just how 
much lock-in users accept, if the device is just fancy enough.

But not based on which versions of programs I have. It shouldn't concern 
anyone which programs *I* use, as long as they stick to the communication 
standard.

As long as I have a way to retrieve it, everyone can use that same way, so 
airport security could just force me to "open" the laptop for them. 

And I could just as well use a password-protected GnuPG key to encrypt 
sensitive data - ideally one on a crypto-card like the smartcard from the 
fsfe:

Where is the advantage of a TPM over that model?
