Given that the last time the copyright on ltdl.c was updated (until
today) was 2002, does it seem to you that maintaining these small
functions is keeping you from concentrating on the rest of libtool?

Not specifically. But, there is a bunch of stuff I'd like to do to libltdl, except that I struggle to find my way around the code, and I'm afraid to make deep changes. I haven't touched it in 2 years because the deep changes in
libtool seemed a lot easier to tackle.

Maybe you noticed that my work on m4 has stalled on a number of occasions due
to fixing bogosity in libltdl.

Is it possible that a mountain is being made out of a molehill?

Heh :-) Like many programmers I can get retentive about DTRT. The path to the summit does not always go uphill; sometimes you have to go down for a
while before you start to ascend the next peak.
