I don't think that the portions which were corrupted have anything to do with libtool.
There are plenty of other showstoppers existing in libtool 2.0 which I summarized in a previous email. In particular, it should be possible to configure, build, and use a co-packaged libltdl using the documented macros. It is clear that they don't actually work since there are no tests for them.
