Please use that development version of libtool *only* to run the libtool
test suite.  If you're going to use it for other packages, you're going
to have to read the documentation and/or the source.  1.5.x contents of
libtool.m4 have now been split into more than one macro file, for
example.

GCC has its own in-house cranked-up version of 1.4.x libtool.
