Of course, I was speaking only of the engraving rules I know about, which
are English. For example, in French engraving, __ is often used instead of
-- between syllables. But there's no reason why these two engraving
symbols couldn't be set on a per-language basis. Think of -- and __ as
being variables, if you like.
