Sigh.  I have

Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Cfg-files/Unpacked/Failed-cfg/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name           Version        Description
+++-==============-==============-============================================
rc canorus 0.5-1ubuntu1 Free cross-platform music score editor

and this package apparently installed including truetype fonts. Debian
and Ubuntu always have had their own packagings.

I'll try installing the 0.5 from Berlios and see where this gets me.
