Hello folks,

Binchois.xml, a part of the Recordare MusicXML samples, contains <bracket/> markups such as:

    <measure number="13" width="168">
      <print new-system="no"/>
      <direction placement="below">
        <direction-type>
          <bracket default-y="-55" line-end="up" line-type="solid" number="1" relative-x="-6" type="start"/>
        </direction-type>
      </direction>
      <direction placement="above">
        <direction-type>
          <bracket default-y="21" line-end="down" line-type="solid" number="2" type="start"/>
        </direction-type>
        <offset>1</offset>
      </direction>
      <note default-x="15">
        <pitch>
          <step>A</step>
          <octave>2</octave>
        </pitch>
        <duration>8</duration>
        <instrument id="P2-I4"/>
        <voice>1</voice>
        <type>quarter</type>
        <stem default-y="0.5">up</stem>
      </note>
      <direction placement="below">
        <direction-type>
          <bracket default-y="-61" line-end="up" number="1" type="stop"/>
        </direction-type>
        <offset>2</offset>
      </direction>
      <direction placement="above">
        <direction-type>
          <bracket default-y="39" line-end="down" number="2" type="stop"/>
        </direction-type>
        <offset>3</offset>
      </direction>
      <note default-x="83">
        <pitch>
          <step>A</step>
          <octave>3</octave>
        </pitch>
        <duration>12</duration>
        <instrument id="P2-I4"/>
        <voice>1</voice>
        <type>quarter</type>
        <dot/>
        <stem default-y="30.5">up</stem>
      </note>
      <note default-x="135">
        <pitch>
          <step>F</step>
          <octave>3</octave>
        </pitch>
        <duration>4</duration>
        <instrument id="P2-I4"/>
        <voice>1</voice>
        <type>eighth</type>
        <stem default-y="26">up</stem>
      </note>

This is displayed by Finale 2014 and MuseScore 2.1.0 like this:

Text spanners can be used in LP to obtain that, but what is their name in music in general?

Thanks for your help!
