Absolutely no purpose, other than that it is in the original scan and my instructions were to follow the original  as closely as possible! It is from a 1989 Baptist hymnal that has some interesting formatting issues, so yes, it is absolutely not practical. Thank you though!!

note (after ~) and then have the other stanzas skip that one note.

May I just ask: What would be the purpose of this hyphen there?
