Don't mess with the subnet mask or you will get even more problems ;-)

>From trying to understand your network setup, ETH and WLAN are different
subnets separated by a router. In that case, broadcast will NOT work.
Even multicast might be difficult to configure, depending on the router
type that is connecting ETH and WLAN.
