Exactly.  There's no way in autotest to say "please run this cleanup
code regardless of whether the test passes or fails"; all you can do
is put the cleanup code at the end of the test, and if the test fails
before that, the cleanup code doesn't get run.

So, just to be unambiguous -- the originally reported problem is
exactly that a test is failing, nothing more dire or mysterious.

(I don't reproduce the failure, so good luck with it! ;-))
