Yeah, the perspective is a bit different than the current logo.
Cleaner lines, yes, but the "from above" perspective takes a bit of
effort to wrap your head around it.  Additionally, the short legs
makes it look like a mole rather than a mouse.

How about a mouse sitting on top of the box containing the word
monotone, with the tail wrapping around the left side and bottom of
the box?
