One thing we need is an up to date Cygwin release. I think Lapo Luchini is
working on one, but the latest in the Cygwin repository is 0.42.

Lapo, can you check in your Cygwin package stuff? or notes on it? Can
I help? I have built mtn on Cygwin in the past, but not since the
libraries were split out.
