I was referring to its meaning as “intoxicated” or “cool” (https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=lit). Those meanings are not really negative but surely not what you meant, so I just thought I’d give you a heads-up if you hadn’t heard it before.

And yes, I did share the concern about the two looking similar; I figured that was probably part of why you went with “lit” in the first place. Sadly, I don’t have a solution that brings back that property but I do think that “light” is still better in spite of that.

The word “lit” specifically has a fairly interesting colloquial meaning; I
might even go as far to say that the usage of the word in that context might
outstrip its use conveying the meaning you’re trying to evoke.

You're referring to "lit" as short for "literature"?

While it’s a couple more characters, personally I prefer “lightred” over
“litred” from a clarity/phonesthetic perspective.

I wanted to use a word that shares as few as possible letters with "bright"
so that it is easy to distinguish the two.  At first I used "live", but that
doesn't work well in "livered".  If it wasn't for that, I think "live" would
have been good.

Indeed, "light" probably most clearly conveys the meaning.  If no one finds
a better word, I will switch over to "light".
