Open/Closed: Open => Closed

Follow-up Comment #5:
I meant a shell alias. I am using Gnome 3.14.1 (Debian Jessie)
Anyway, I tried again today, with and without the --force-gui, and with and
without the bash alias. I get the same results as you. The shell alias seems
to make no difference, and I require the --force-gui option.
This is weird. The difference is that this time I modified the octave source,
ran make install, log off and log back, and then tested. Yesterday I only
modified the already installed desktop file (maybe there's a cache file with
the menu entries but reading the specs and man pages I could not find
reference to any).
Anyway, pushed http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/0178c5a98d6f
