Follow-up Comment #5, bug #49609 (project octave):

While I don't get the crash specifically on the while 1 loop, I dare not press
CTRL-C in Octave these days. I'm on Ubuntu 14.04.

As I commented in #47400 and as someone also reported in comment 3 in this
thread, CTRL-C inside Octave can bring down my entire session. For me this
seems related to interrupting OpenBLAS.

If I start Octave and just hold down CTRL-C for 20 seconds or so, then about
50% of the time I get a milder crash. Not the session ending, just Octave
blinking out of existence with "octave exited with signal 6". This is in GUI
mode.
