Follow-up Comment #8, bug #49609 (project octave):
When I add the line "Terminal=true" at the end of my .desktop file (see
comment #4), and then start Octave with it, then
* this crash (see comment #3) disappears!
* an additional empty bash terminal windows pops up
(This is still on Ubuntu 14.04.)
