Follow-up Comment #25, bug #49609 (project octave):

Yes, that's right: Ctrl+C interrupts the while loop, forces Unity to restart
and leaves (in the case of Ubuntu 16.04) Octave running.

After restarting the Octave GUI process (close the GUI, re-open it via the
.desktop link) I can do the same "game" again, I get the same kind-of-crash
once again.

This kind-of-crash leaves me a single line of text in ~/.xsession-errors:

upstart: unity7-main-Prozess beendet, wird neu gestartet

This is german, and just means: "upstart: unity7-main process finished, will
be restarted".
