Follow-up Comment #23, bug #51388 (project octave):
That could indeed have been the case: "pwd" always returns the path with the
default filesep "\".
Philip, does the test in comment #2 fail for you if you use backslash "\" as
the directory separator?
Andrey reported that neither the code in comment #2 nor comment #10 gave an
error for him. He got the same error as jwe for the code in comment #11.
