Follow-up Comment #11, bug #55391 (project octave):

Ok, I don't understand what's happening, I am sure that I was able to prove to
myself an hour ago that the current (unpatched) stable branch worked with
readline 6.3, but now it crashes for me also. So I can't pin this on readline
necessarily and I can't point to what changed to break this in the first
place, but the patch does fix this for me.
