Follow-up Comment #32, bug #55268 (project octave):
start octave (from rthe terminal windows) as
LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 octave
I think you can also use setenv("LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE", "1")
inside octave before starting any plots.
If that works you can add it to .octaverc.
