Follow-up Comment #38, bug #57635 (project octave):

A first throw at reinstalling old binary installers shows that one from Sep 16
2019 works fine, while another one from Sep 23 2019 has the bug. (Hmmm I
expected it was an old bug; but so old ...)

(I used the trick of opening two files in the editor, clicking in one and then
closing it ==> other file (tab) has no visible cursor.
Both done in Windows7 and Windows 10, just to be sure.)

Looking at the log there aren't that many candidates. The candidate sequence
runs from
