Oracle JDK 14.0.1 appears to use the same stack size (139264) as OpenJDK 11.
Haven't tried it with Octave but I would expect to see the same problems.
I'd guess you probably wouldn't see these problems on Windows, or other
non-GNU systems, but I don't know.
