Follow-up Comment #7, bug #59680 (project octave):

Right, we should not need to export any gnulib functions from liboctave.  Is
there an easy way to do that for just the gnulib functions?

Or do we have to enable the symbol visibility options, set the default to hide
everything, and then export a select list?  If so, then that will be a lot
more work.

Patch #8919 is several years old now.  I'm guessing it would need some work to
apply now?

In any case, yes, we could try to work on this for Octave 7.
