Details:

The ls command below, in 5.2.0, 6.2.0, and 6.3.0, gave  the same results

>> ls C:\Octave\Octave-7.1.0\octave*
 Volume in drive C has no label.
 Volume Serial Number is AC12-40D4

 Directory of C:\Octave\Octave-7.1.0

octave-firsttime.vbs          octave-launch.exe
octave-launch-firsttime.exe   octave.vbs
               4 File(s)         89,382 bytes
               0 Dir(s)  16,988,422,144 bytes free

In 7.1.0, the same command gives the following error message: 

>> ls C:\Octave\Octave-7.1.0\octave*
ls: cannot access 'C:\Octave\Octave-7.1.0\octave*': No such file or directory
