Follow-up Comment #7, bug #63791 (project octave):

I cannot change the title, but somebody else can.

I cannot reproduce the problem. I can increase size to 1e7 and it
still runs, though it takes few minutes due to swapping.

I suspect you may have some custom m-file that shadows octave functions. 

You may try to install octave with 64-bit pointers
(w64-64 on octave.space) to eliminate "out of memory or dimension too large
for Octave's index type", but I think the problem is elsewhere.
