Follow-up Comment #1, bug #63799 (project octave):

Crash in chol.cc-tst is probably due to qrupdate libs being 32-bit only.  

I am not sure what is octave bug here? The fact that configure
does not distinguish ilp64 vs lp64 libraries?

Otherwise it is a distro problem. E.g. Redhat provides
both versions for openblas and suitesparse libs:
