Follow-up Comment #11, bug #63930 (project octave):

It has everything to do with encoding. If I change my encoding 
(in editor setting) to iso-8859-1 the problem appears again:

x = 194
error: b(1): out of bound 0 (dimensions are 0x0)

cr1 = 1
