[RP] ratpoison + xemacs -> infinite event loop

The combination of X 3.9.17 + ratpoison + xemacs seems to send
xemacs + X into an infinite event loop.

The symptoms are these: 

The initial xemacs window is drawn, .emacs etc is read, then xemacs
appears to receive a maximise/resize event from ratpoison. The window
gets resized to the size of the root window, and then immediately goes
into an infinite redraw (or more likely, resize) loop.  top shows that
both xemacs and X are gobbling cpu.

The window is non-responsive to ^Tk events. ^tK kills the window --
however, xemacs stays in an infinite loop and ratpoison dies with:

ratpoison: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)!
