I've been looking at it but not much more. A lot of things are lacking. Mostly
notable the ability to run gtk+ applications through it.

C-t x is lock screen, at least in all my builds. ;)
Quoted from screens man page:
"
C-a x
C-a C-x (lockscreen) Lock this terminal.
C-a C-\ (quit) Kill all windows and terminate
screen.
"
..and it's easy to press by misstake. C-t C-\ would be better I think.
