A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden

Ishwar Joshi <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: newhurd
System name: newhurd
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project

NewHURD project aims to create a brand new kernel for the GNU system. The new
kernel aims to be a replacement of the GNU HURD kernel.

Currently no code exists. Initial discussions are at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/newhurd

The idea is to first write a prototype based on monolothic (linux) approach.
Then write another prototype based on micro (mach) approach.

Both prototypes will be *very* basic i.e. no networking etc.

Once both prototypes are created, then the design goals and objectives of the
new kernel will be decided.

There is a possibility that an exokernel approach may be considered for the
real product.
