A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Pedro Bastos <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: mbsd
Other License:
Package: Machmon
System name: machmon
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
Description:
My project is to develop a complete monitoring tool for UNIX systems, being
able to monitor a whole network from a single machine, working on the
client/server style. As the data the project would work with important data, a
cryptographic framework would take care of it. The plan is to develop our own
protocol, but also supporting SNMP as an option. The idea behind monitoring a
network is to fit its components on profiles such as \"webserver\", \"mail
server\", etc - so that the utility would be able to \"think\" (a small IA
code) about the specific component situation, and warn the administrator or
even take some decisions in order to make the component working. Initially, it
would act as a ncurses-based tool (the client side), but a GUI wouldn\'t be bad
at all.
It is 100% made on the C language and already exists and works only under
OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD at the moment. You can get it at
