A package was submitted to savannah.nongnu.org
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden

Aubrey Jaffer <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: FreeSnell
System name: freesnell
Type: non-GNU

Description:
FreeSnell is a program which computes optical properties of multilayer
thin-film coatings.

Dielectric, metallic, and granular metallic films are supported. The
FreeSnell package includes a SCM script (program) "nk" to create,
manage, and query a refractive-index spectral database.

FreeSnell is an application of the SCM Scheme implementation and the
WB B-tree database package.

The FreeSnell home page is
        http://swiss.csail.mit.edu/~jaffer/FreeSnell

The FreeSnell package is available from
        http://swiss.csail.mit.edu/ftpdir/users/jaffer/FreeSnell.zip

A validation test suite comparing FreeSnell with other programs is at
        http://swiss.csail.mit.edu/~jaffer/FreeSnell/validation

Other Software Required:

Other Comments:
Although it can be run without Sopra data, the Sopra library is
useful. Here is FreeSnell's pointer to it:

The nk program can read Sopra format files. These files have a ".nk" suffix.
Some metal spectra included with FreeSnell also have a ".nk" suffix, but with a
different format. A bundle of spectra for 278 materials is available from:
http://www.sopra-sa.com/more/database.asp (Nov 28, 2000).

The zip file http://www.sspectra.com/files/misc/win/SOPRA.EXE
(Macintosh http://www.sspectra.com/files/misc/mac/Sopra.sea.hqx)
contains "README.TXT" identifying the Sopra files.
