Cepstral Voice Module

Hi Storm
Well, I see your point. I'll be honest though, I'm not sure when I'll
get to it. Also, regarding audio outputs, the way Cepstral outputs audio
(via OSS) will make no difference when speech dispatcher is used.
Cepstral will work with Pulse if a speech dispatcher module is written
for it, because sd does not rely on the synthesizer to generate the
audio output. Rather, sd calls on the synth APIs to generate the
synthesized data and then speech dispatcher handles actually getting it
out to the audio device. In other words, how the synthesizer handles
audio output (via oss, alsa, etc) is irrelevant for speech dispatcher's
use. This is why you can use ibmtts with Pulseaudio via sd even though
ibmtts, like Cepstral, only supports OSS itself.
I hadn't heard anything about Neospeech in Linux. I'll have to check
that out, as Neospeech is a lot more responsive than Cepstral. There's
supposedly a Loquendo for Linux as well, though given what Loquendo
charge for their voices I can't see myself getting ahold of it any time
soon.
