Forget the gfx python module.
I think it appears only in swftools 0.9.0

Today when I was looking into swfextract I saw that it can extract frames.

You can try something like this:
swfextract -f 0,2,4 input.swf -o output.swf

Not sure if the first frame is 0 or 1 in -f option

I successfully installed 0.8 version, but apparently gfx is not installed (i tryed the gfx test command line and apparently it is not installed)
 
i tryed with the open office python version, maybe the problem comes from here ?
