Sorry, I can't fault,

    pdf2swf  catalog.pdf -o caralog.swf

at all.

Once you've done the above command,  try,

    swfdump -e catalog.swf > catalog.html

to write out the corresponding html wrapper. Then, open that file in your
default browser ( and you'll see what I mean ).
