Can you also post a backtrace (type "bt" in the gdb window) please?

Is this 0.56pre1 or the svn snapshot? Does hat makes a difference at
all? The svn snapshot should be pretty good. I plan to make a new
release soon and parts of it are already in debian and ubuntu and it
seems to work there.
