How about instead of explaining why 0.2 sucks, explain why recent
versions don't suck. E.g:
"Nowadays that release is obsolete and doesn't have the new
features and improvements of recent GNU-based distributions. It
is also binary incompatible with recent Glibc versions, which
would make upgrading a non-trivial task."
This is better, but instead of just tacking it on the previous
paragraph make it flow a bit. Say (with `GNU 0.2' being a link to the
announcment),
The `GNU 0.2' release of the GNU/Hurd system is nowadays obsolete and
doesn't have the ...
