Well, on my system MinGW is installed in C:\MinGW and MSYS in C:\MSYS and
there is c:/MinGW line in fstab.

I was advised in the past to put ie. install all the libraries under MinGW 
tree, so
e.g. Ruby is configured with --prefix=C:/MinGW and therefore my Ruby exe is in
C:\MinGW\lib and msvcrt-ruby18.lib (as well as wxmsw241.dll) is in 
C:\MinGW\lib, while
C:\MinGW\bin;C\MinGW\lib are included in PATH statement.

Where do you have your MSYS & MinGW installed?

Can you run Ruby from MSDOS prompt ie. what "ruby -v" displays when run within
MSDOS command prompt?
